چکیده

THE fact that the hexosediphosphate which is produced by the action of yeast preparations on a mixture of a hexose and a phosphate is accompanied by a monophosphate renders it necessary to reconsider the equation originally proposed by Harden and Young [1906] to represent the reaction: 2C6HJ206 + 2Na2HPO4= C6H1004(PO4Na2)2 + 2CO2 + 2C2H60 + 2H20. This equation was originally established on the basis of the ratio of carbon dioxide evolved to the phosphate which went into organic combination as experimentally observed and of the composition of the hexosephosphate produced. It was further confirmed by experiments in which the ratio was determined of the sugar added in presence of excess of phosphate to the carbon dioxide produced. It is however obvious that if some of the phosphate and some of the sugar form a compound of a different composition (a hexosemonophosphate) experiments of the kind just indicated are not sufficient to afford a rigorous proof of the equation. It was therefore decided to make a more detailed study of the reaction and to endeavour to determine the exact proportions of the.hexosemonophosphate and hexosediphosphate produced, as well as the amount of carbon dioxide evolved.

Decolorization of Molasses Waste Water from an Alcoholic Fermentation Process with Phanerochaete Chrysosporium Involvement of Ligninase

Waste water from a molasses alcoholic fermentation plant (MWW) was treated biologically with Phanerochaete chrysosporium. The ability of this white-rot fungus to degrade the dark colored pigments present in MWW and the consequent decrease the effluent's color was examined. The Optimum concentration of MWW for color removal was determined and set at the ratio of 1:10. The color changes durin...

Kinetics of the continuous alcoholic fermentation of blackstrap molasses.

The very important problems concerning fermentation kinetics have only recently received some attention (Calam et al., 1951; Gaden, 1955a, b, 1956; Borzani, 1957; Kosin, 1957). In the particular case of continuous alcoholic fermentation, a great number of papers have been published (Alzola, 1940, 1945; Bilford et al., 1942; Owen, 1948; Asai et al., 1952, 1953; Mariller et al., 1952; Borzani, 19...

Non-invasive quantification of liver fat content by different Gradient Echo MRI sequences in patients with Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD)

Introduction: Non-invasive quantification of liver fat by Gradient echo (GRE) Technique is an interesting issue in quantitative MRI. Despite the numerous advantages of this technique, fat measurement maybe biased by confounding and effects. The aim of this study was to evaluate the GRE pulse sequences with different   and  weighting for liver fat quantification in patients with...
